Which of these struggling NFL teams could still be a good bet? | News Article by SportsBettingOnline.ag

The NFL season enters Week 7, which is more than enough time to make some solid judgements about teams. However, there are a number of surprises struggles in the standings. We take a close look at football bets online and those teams falling short of expectations and if there is any value betting on them in Week 7 or as the rest of the schedule unfolds.

Los Angeles Chargers 2-4 SU, 1-5 ATS
The Chargers were projected to battle the Kansas City Chiefs for the top spot in the AFC West. But that’s been far from the case for the Bolts, who were just upset at home by the Pittsburgh Steelers and a third-string quarterback.

A close look at the Chargers’ results, and you see a team that could be 1-5 SU as well as against the spread. Los Angeles was able to escape with an overtime win against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 – thanks in part to some poor kicking. The offense has struggled to put up points, scoring 20 or less in four of their six games and finding the end zone on only half of their trips inside the red zone.

The Chargers hit the road to play the Tennessee Titans in Week 7, with oddsmakers installing the visitor as 1-point underdogs. After that, L.A. travels to Chicago to play the Bears. Tennessee and Chicago are two of the better stop units in the NFL, so don’t hold your breath when it comes to the Chargers scoring attack.

Atlanta Falcons 1-5 SU, 1-5 ATS
With Cam Newton and Drew Brees going down with early-season injuries, the window was open for the Falcons to take the top spot in the NFC South. Atlanta hasn’t been able to capitalize, losing four in a row – including a road defeat versus the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6 – to sink to the bottom of the division.

The Falcons offense isn’t the issue. The team has posted scores of 32 and 33 points in the past two weeks, yet hasn’t been able to pick up the victory. The defense is handing over points, allowing an average of 31 per game and getting burned for big plays with opponents striking for 24 plays of 20+ yards and five plays of 40 or more.

Head coach Dan Quinn is under fire and the team has said it will address his future with the franchise during the Falcons’ bye in Week 9. Until then, Atlanta is a field-goal underdog at home to Los Angeles, then hosts Seattle in Week 8 – two teams with plenty of potential for points.

Cleveland Browns 2-4 SU, 2-4 ATS
Cleveland entered 2019 with lofty expectations and so far, the Browns have fallen very short of those. With Baker Mayfield in his first full season at quarterback and Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. flanking him in the passing game, Cleveland was supposed to be the most dynamic passing attack in the AFC North. But so far, the Browns are 20th in the NFL in terms of gains through the air.

Cleveland was smashed on the road in San Francisco last Monday, then coughed up a 20-6 lead to Seattle in Week 6. The Browns have allowed scores of 31 and 32 points the past two games and have a date with the New England Patriots on tap – but first a much-needed bye.

The division is a bit of a mess, with the Ravens not running away with it, Pittsburgh left to backup QBs, and Cincinnati is the running for the NFL’s worst team. Cleveland has the talent to get right, and should they make those adjustments out of the bye, the Browns could bring in the green in the second half of the schedule.
