College football marches into its second week of action, which means more spot bets for bettors to pick from. Situational capping is a popular practice, giving you an added edge against the oddsmakers, and here are our favorite ncaa football betting lines for this week’s NCAA football odds.
Tulane Green Wave at Auburn Tigers (-17.5, 51.5)
Auburn opened at -19 after a thrilling win over Oregon in one of the marquee matchups of Week 1. That come-from-behind 27-21 win, with the Tigers trailing 21-6 in the third quarter, sets up the home side for a letdown spot against a weaker small-conference opponent.
Tulane played very well in its opening game of the season, smashing Florida International 42-14. Quarterback Justin McMillan passed for almost 200 yards and two touchdowns while adding 51 yards rushing and a score on the ground.
If the Tigers take it easy, this Tulane squad could give them a run for their money. The Green Wave have been a moneymaker in non-conference games, covering the spread in 11 of their last 16 games outside of the AAC.
Eastern Michigan Eagles at Kentucky Wildcats (-15, 53)
The Kentucky Wildcats have pulled themselves out of the SEC basement with solid efforts in recent years, and have their first big test of the season on top in Week 3. Kentucky will host the Florida Gators next Saturday night but first have a tune-up game against a small MAC opponent in Week 2.
Eastern Michigan is running a gauntlet to start the season, with three straight road games. The Eagles went to Coastal Carolina and took a 30-23 road win as 5-point chalk in Week 1 and now visit Lexington and the Wildcats in Week 2.
Eastern Michigan has a steady hand under center in senior quarterback Mike Glass III, who hasn’t thrown an interception in five straight games going back to last season. Should UK shorten its playbook or start to think ahead to Florida, EMU could sneak in for a backdoor cover as big road dogs.
Minnesota Golden Gophers at Fresno State Bulldogs (+3, 47)
The Golden Gophers will be a long way from home Saturday night when they visit the West Coast and the Fresno State Bulldogs. This schedule spot could give some value to the home underdogs due to the late kickoff.
Saturday’s game is set to start at 10:30 p.m. ET which is very late for a Big Ten team and the latest kickoff for this Minnesota program in years. The Gophers got a good test in FCS power South Dakota State in Week 1, winning 28-21 but falling well short of covering the 14.5-point spread.
The Bulldogs battles Southern California in Week 1, losing 31-21 to the more talented team but covered as 14.5-point underdogs and put a beating on USC, knocking the Trojans starting QB out for the season. Fresno State has covered the pointspread in 16 of its last 21 home stands and gets Minnesota in good spot in Week 2.
