Melt the NHL ice with these red-hot hockey betting trends | News Article by SportsBettingOnline.ag

The NHL season continues to stack the cold hard cash for hockey bettors catching on to the early-season trends popping up on the ice each night. Whether you’ve been betting on the pucks since the start of the schedule or just lacing up the skates for the first time.

Here are the hottest NHL betting trends on sport betting sites to follow.

Rocky Mountain High
The Colorado Avalanche looked like a team on the rise last season and have continued to improve in 2019-20. The Avs are off and running, with a 8-1-1-0 record to start the schedule. That’s earned +6.5 units of profits for Colorado backers heading into the weekend.

The Avalanche have come out firing, averaging four goals per night through the first 10 games. That offensive outburst has been sparked by a solid power play and some strategic shot selection, namely from center Nathan McKinnon, who leads the team with 14 points.

Colorado is always a tough home team, thanks in large part to the altitude in the Rockies sucking the wind out of opponents. The Avs are a perfect 4-0-0-0 inside the Pepsi Center so far, and play their next three games in front of the Colorado faithful.

Coyotes catching goals
The Arizona Coyotes aren’t setting the standings on fire by any means, sitting near the bottom of the Pacific Division with a 5-3-1-0 record out of the gate. However, Arizona has been a solid play on the puckline – hockey’s version of the pointspread – and have gone 7-2 for puckline players.

The Coyotes have been puckline underdogs most nights, which means getting a buffer of +1.5 goals. While there is some added juice involved to get that 1.5-goal spread, the Coyotes have been good enough to turn a profit of +1.5 units.

Arizona is netting 2.9 goals per game while allowing 2.1 goals against. That slim advantage has helped keep the Coyotes on the right side of that spread most nights. If you had just been playing Arizona straight up on the moneyline odds, you’d only have +0.5 units to show for yourself.

Toronto topping totals
The Toronto Maple Leafs are struggling to meet lofty expectations in the early workings of the NHL season, stumbling out to a 5-4-1-1 record. The big issue for the Leafs is a lack of defense, allowing opponents to 3.5 goals on nearly 34 shots against per night.

Luckily for Toronto, it boasts one of the better scoring attack in the NHL and has combated that porous blueline with 3.6 goals on more than 33 shot for an outing. The power play is also clicking for the Maple Leafs, netting a goal on one of every four man advantages.

This bad defense and good offense has naturally led to some busy nights on the scoreboard. Toronto enters the weekend with a 7-3-1 Over/Under record. The Maple Leafs are routinely seeing totals of 6.5 goals most nights, and have played Under the number in two straight outings heading into Saturday’s road game in Montreal – which will be the second of back-to-back games.
