Betting the Sunday night NFL odds: NFC elite battle by the bay when Packers play 49ers | News Article by SportsBettingOnline.ag

Two of the top teams in the NFC matchup under the Sunday night lights when the Green Bay Packers take on the San Francisco 49ers in NFL Week 12.

Oddsmakers opened the 49ers as field-goal favorites and if you’re betting on the NFL odds for Sunday Night Football, here are some angles and edges by sport betting sites to factor into your handicapping.

Busted by the Bay
The 49ers have battled key injuries in recent weeks and are hoping some of those vital bodies can be back on the field Sunday night. Perhaps the one contributor San Francisco is missing most is tight end George Kittle, who has sat out two straight games with a knee injury.

Kittle is the Niners’ leading receiver and very much a safety net for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. If healthy enough to suit up, Kittle could be a huge factor in the outcome of this game as the Packers pass defense has struggled to contain tight ends this season. Green Bay has allowed 627 yards – third most allowed to the position – and five touchdowns to opposing tight ends heading into Week 12.

Also on the mend is kicker Robbie Gould, who was dearly missed in the team’s loss to Seattle on Monday Night Football in Week 10. Gould’s replacement, Chase McLaughlin, has kicked well but missed a game-winning field goal attempt in overtime in that game. Gould is still a question mark for what should be a close game – if that 3-point spread is any indication.

Well rested
The Packers come to the Bay Area fresh off a bye in Week 11. Green Bay left off with a nail-biting win over Carolina in Week 10, barely holding at the goal line to escape with a victory. The game before that, the Cheeseheads managed just 17 points in a road loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Green Bay offense looked to be gaining momentum before those two games, settling in to Matt LaFleur’s new playbook. One aspect of that offense that was working very well was pass-catching running back picking up big gains. Running backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams were not only doing damage on handoffs but have combined for more than 500 receiving yards heading into Week 12.

San Francisco’s defense has done a great job slowing down passing attacks but could struggle with the Packers running backs. The 49ers have allowed 5.3 yards per carry over their last three games after limiting rushers to just 4.7 yards per run on the season. However, plenty of those yards came from dual-threat quarterbacks Kyler Murray and Russell Wilson.

Total time
The total for Sunday Night Football opened at 45.5 and jumped to 46.5 with early bets coming in on the Over. With this being a primetime game, public players do generally gravitate to the Over – hoping to watch some high-scoring football.

San Francisco is 5-5 Over/Under on the season with a 3-2 O/U mark inside Levi’s Stadium. Green Bay comes into Week 12 with a similar 5-5 count towards the betting total, with a 2-2 O/U record as a visitor. These classic NFC giants have played to the Over in seven of their last nine head-to-head meetings, the most recent coming in a 33-30 shootout at Lambeau Field last October.
