The best ways to wager on the NFL Conference Championship betting odds

Here’s a quick breakdown of the nfl betting lines for this weekend

The best ways to wager on the NFL Conference Championship betting odds | News Article by SportsBettingOnline.ag

For many football bettors, Championship Sunday is their favorite day on the NFL calendar – not Super Bowl Sunday. With a double shot of conference title games, it offers more wagering options in terms of sides and total, and many sportsbooks put out a massive menu of alternative odds and props to boot.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the nfl betting lines and how the final four remaining teams matchup this weekend:

Jacksonville Jaguars at New England Patriots (-9, 46)
This spread opened as low as Patriots -8.5 and climbed as high as -9.5, but it seems early sharp money has settled most books in around New England -9. The Patriots will win over the public money, especially after covering the near two-touchdown spread against the Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Round.

The Patriots offense is the biggest reason to get behind the favorite in the AFC title game. New England fell behind only briefly to the Titans, then scored 35 straight points which completely took Tennessee off its game plan and forced it to ditch the run and go pass-heavy on offense. The Patriots essentially want to do the same thing with the Jaguars Sunday, forcing Jacksonville to play catch up with Blake Bortles' inconsistent arm under center.

Jacksonville’s defense is one of the best in the league and can do a lot to counter Brady & Co. The Jaguars have a vaunted pass rush and don’t need to bring extra players on the blitz to get to the quarterback. Because of that, the linebackers can jam the middle and allow the secondary to go one-on-one with the New England receivers – another strength for the visitor.

The total for the AFC Championship opened at 47 and has slid down to 46 points. If you’re looking to wager on the Over/Under, you may want to think about correlating a parlay: Patriots and Over, Jaguars and Under. Jacksonville’s best shot at covering this spread is limiting New England to 21 points or less and keeping Brady and the offense off the field with a rush-focused attack of its own.

Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles (+3, 38.5)
The outcome of the NFC Championship Game could come down to which quarterback turns into a pumpkin first. Both Case Keenum and Nick Foles have played well beyond expectations, with Keenum leading the charge on offense for the Vikings since Sam Bradford went down with a knee injury in Week 1 and Foles stepping in for the injured Carson Wentz in Week 14.

Foles was extremely efficient in the Eagles’ Divisional Round win over the Atlanta Falcons, completing nearly 78 of his passes for 246 yards in a 15-10 victory. Philadelphia has a solid ground game, behind the three-headed beast of Jay Ajayi, LeGarrette Blount, and Chris Clement, and will put that offense to the test versus the Vikings top-ranked stop unit. Minnesota has allowed only 3.7 yards per carry on the year and locked the Saints down for only 80 yards on the ground.

The Vikings are riding high after that improbable win against New Orleans in the Divisional Round, and that could set Minnesota up for a letdown spot this Sunday. Keenum looked shaky down the stretch before making that miraculous touchdown completion to Stefon Diggs and takes on a ball-hawking Eagles secondary that recorded 19 interceptions this season.

Minnesota is always dangerous on the ground, picking up an average of 118 rushing yards per game over its last three. Philadelphia is a top-ranked rushing defense in the NFL – giving up 79.2 yards per outing – but has softened against the run in recent contests.

A ground-heavy game could lend a hand to those betting Under the 38.5-point total for the NFC Championship, as the run will keep the clock ticking. The Under has paid out in five of the last seven meetings between the Eagles and Vikings, including a 21-16 win by the Eagles that stayed below the 39-point total in October 2016.
